Game Recommendation: Sushi Go!

Sushi Go

 

Who can play: Ages 8 and up

How many players: 2-5 players

How long: 15 minutes

What you will need: Pen and Paper (to keep score)

Game Made By: Gamewright

Goal:  to collect the best sushi combinations

How to setup:

  • Shuffle the cards and deal following the number of players
    • 2 players- 10 cards each player
    • 3 players- 9 cards each player
    • 4 players- 8 cards each player
    • 5 players- 7 cards each player
  • The rest of the cards are placed face-down in a pile in the center

How to Play:

  • The game consists of 3 rounds
  • Each playing will choose 1 card from their hand they want to keep and place it faced-down
  • Each player will show their chosen card
  • Pass your remaining hand to the player to your left with the cards faced-down
  • Each player selects another card from the smaller hand, until there are no more cards remaining
  • Cards:                                                                                                             
    •  Dumplings:
      • number of points is determined by size of your collection.
      • 1 dumpling is worth 1 point, 4 dumplings are worth 10 points, etc
    • Tempura and Sashimi
      • Receive points for each complete set you make
      • 2 tempuras are worth 5 points
      • 3 sashimi is worth 10 points
      • Any incomplete set is worth 0 points
    • Squid Nigiri
      • Worth 3 points
      • If wasabi placed first, squid card is worth 6 points
    • Salmon Nigiri
      • Worth 2 points
      • If wasabi is placed first, score gets tripled to 6 points
    • Egg Nigiri
      • Worth 1 point
      • If wasabi is placed first, score gets tripled to 3 points
    •  Wasabi:
      • Place a wasabi card before the squid, salmon, or egg nigiri card
      • This triples the value of the nigiri card 
    • Maki Rolls
      • Each card can have 3,2, or 1 roll(s) on it
      • Score is based on competition between players
      • Player with the most maki rolls gets 6 points, player with the
      •  Second most maki rolls gets 3 points (ignore second place is there are only 2 players)
      • If there is a tie, you split the points
    •  Pudding
      • Not scored until the end of all 3 rounds
      • Player with the most pudding cards gets 6 points
      • Player with the least amount of pudding cards (included those who have none) loses 6 points
    •  Chopsticks
      • Are not worth any points
      • When a chopstick card is in front of you, you may take 2 sushi cards in the next turn
  • Starting a new round
    • After scoring the round, discard your cards into a different pile
    • Deal cards from the draw pile
  • Winner
    • Player with the most points at the end of 3 rounds
